Yahoo! Search Trends: Final Four

With the Final Four only days away, we wanted to share the below data from Yahoo! Search showing the tournament teams, topics and trends people are most searching for online this week.
If Yahoo! search trends determined the winner…
• VCU would beat Kentucky in the title game; according to Yahoo!, VCU is the top-searched team in the Final Four with searches for “VCU basketball” up 143% this week. Kentucky is the second-most-searched team, followed by Butler and UConn.
According to Yahoo!, this Week’s Top Searched Final Four Teams are:
1. VCU Basketball (searches up 143% this week)
2. Kentucky Basketball
3. Butler Basketball
4. UConn Basketball
Overall Final Four Search Trends
• Butler Pride: Butler’s improbable run to a second straight Final Four has basketball fans buzzing. According to Yahoo!, there are 119% more searches this week for “Butler basketball” than there were during the same week last year.
• Bracket Busters: It seems this year’s Final Four lineup surprised just about everybody. Searches for “unthinkable Final Four” and “lowest seed to make Final Four” are spiking off the charts this week on Yahoo!
• Staying Home: Fewer fans seem to be scrambling for Final Four tickets. Searches this week for “Final Four tickets” on Yahoo! are 42% lower compared to searches last year (when Butler, Duke, Michigan State and West Virginia participated) and 94% lower compared to searches in 2009 (when Connecticut, Michigan State, North Carolina and Villanova qualified).
Coaching Intrigue
• VCU coach Shaka Smart has caught the country’s attention. According to Yahoo!, searches for him are up 2,199% this week, most of any Final Four coach. People seem most interested in his bio, wedding and ethnicity with searches for those things spiking off the charts on Yahoo!
• Butler’s Brad Stevens is the second-most-searched coach. Searches for him are up 416% on Yahoo! this week, while searches for Kentucky coach John Calipari are up 252%.

Create Image Sensor Sony 8 MP for iPhone 5

In an interview with Walt Mossberg from the Wall Street Journal on Friday night, the CEO of Sony was originally talking about damage to Sony's 15 factories in Japan by the quake, but "let slip" mentions that one of its factories that were making image sensors for camera iPhone 5 and sensors that will delayed due to the earthquake and tsunami.

Stringer did not specifically say that Sony is making an 8-megapixel image sensor for the iPhone 5, but clearly it was confirmed that Sony plans to supply components of the iPhone 5.

That means, Apple will no longer use the 5MP image sensor made by OmniVision is currently pinned on the iPhone 4. An analyst in February reported that OmniVision may lose the opportunity to supply the iPhone camera 8MP 5 because OmniVision sensors will not be ready for the device to be launched mid-summer's.

Because Stringer has been talking about the irony of providing the best camera for Apple, we can only guess that he was talking about 8MP image sensor, the Wall Street Journal wrote about Stringer in a report Monday morning.

Initially, he picked up the irony of Sony to supply components for the Apple device camera. It "remains a puzzle to me," he said.

"Why do I make Apple the best camera?" From that sentence, it is not clear what he is talking device, as Sony does not know will supply key components of the camera, known as image sensors, for Apple.

A Sony spokesman declined to comment, and Apple spokesman could not be reached for comment, according to Mashable.

Jakarta government will increase fuel imports to secure supplies after the burning tank refinery in Cilacap.

SYDNEY/SINGAPORE, April 4 (Reuters) – The euro hit fresh 11-month highs against a broadly weaker yen on Monday and touched a five-month peak against the dollar with markets all but certain the European Central Bank will raise interest rates this week.
In contrast, the Bank of Japan is likely to downgrade its economic assessment at its meeting on Wednesday and may consider finding more ways to help the economy recover from last month’s massive earthquake and devastating tsunami.
This is likely to weigh on the Japanese currency, which is already under pressure following a rare coordinated G7 intervention to temper runaway yen gains on March 18.
The euro briefly popped above 120 yen for the first time since May 2010 and last traded at 119.69, up 0.2 percent from late U.S. trade on Friday.
“Coming into the ECB meeting this week, we have to anticipate further euro gains,” said Todd Elmer, currency strategist at Citi in Singapore.
The single currency hit a five-month high against the dollar of $1.4269 on trading platform EBS earlier on Monday, having gained a lift from some stop-loss buying, traders said, adding that more stops were seen towards $1.4300.
The euro later trimmed its gains to stand at $1.4222 , down 0.1 percent from late U.S. trade on Friday.
The euro’s rise brought it close to resistance at its November peak of $1.4283, a level that also roughly coincides with trendline resistance drawn from the euro’s record high struck in July 2008.
A clear breach of that resistance could open the way for the euro to climb further, with one possible target seen at $1.4374, the 76.4 percent retracement of the euro’s slide between November 2009 to June 2010.
“I don’t think investors are overly long at this stage. You could see some people forced to chase the move. That has the potential to fuel further gains,” said Elmer at Citi in Singapore.
YEN DIPS DOLLAR, EURO
The dollar edged up 0.1 percent to 84.17 yen , having risen to a six-month high near 84.74 yen on Friday on trading platform EBS, up 11 percent from its post-World War Two record low of 76.25 yen struck in March.
